History

Formed in Long Beach, California in 1970 the club was originally known as Nomads of Long Beach. As the club grew to include members across Southern California, the name was changed to California Nomads.

Through the years, club meetings have been held in a variety of locations including several Chevrolet dealerships and our current location at the GAZZY Autos car collection in Los Alamitos. Our monthly meetings are a time to socialize, address club business, coordinate outings, and plan for larger events. Over the years, we have hosted many car shows and campouts to raise money for various charities.

In addition to our charitable contributions, we actively support the Chevrolet Nomad Association. At their annual conventions our members regularly volunteer as judges for the show and shine and the club sponsors trophies. In the early days of California Nomads we supported the National Nomad Club in the same manner, until it was disbanded in 1987.

From the beginning, California Nomads has been a family oriented group, planning all our events for the enjoyment of all ages. Many of our members are second or third generation Nomad owners and club participants. Young to Nomad-aged and beyond, we are all passionate about these cars and love sharing the joy of these very special Chevys.
