Dan & Virginia’s ‘56

My wife Virginia and I purchased our Nomad in 2006. We were attending the wedding of our daughter’s friend and saw the Nomad parked out in front of the church. The groom’s father owned the car and drove the bride to the church in it. The car really piqued my interest, as I had been looking for a Tri-Five vehicle. I had a 1956 Chevy Bel Air hardtop in high school.

I asked my daughter to check with her friend to see if her new father-in-law had any thoughts in selling it. He was interested in selling, so we purchased the car in 2006.

We drove it for several months and realized it was a little rough around the edges (and the top and sides). We installed a new Chevy crate 350 engine, power steering and air conditioning. In 2012 we decided to replace the paint and interior. My wife picked the colors.

It’s a driver, and we have driven it to the Chevrolet Nomad Association (CNA) conventions in Boise, Rapid City, Sacramento, Billings, Portland, Omaha, and Reno. We also drove it to Dallas for a Tri-Five convention.

We really enjoy the car and are looking forward to events with California Nomads.
